Sefer Yismach Moshe on the Torah – Chassidic and Kabbalistic Derushim in order of the Parshiot. By the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Moshe Leib Teitelbaum Av Beis Din of Újhely. Parts I-V on the Chumashim. Printed in Levov in the years 1848-1861. Print houses of Chawe Grohssmann, Francz Galinsky, and Zalme Leib Flecker & co.

Six-volume set. All first editions, with a title page for each part.

The volumes of Yosmach Moshe were brought to print by his grandson and disciple, the holy Rebbe, Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Teitelbaum Av Beis Din of Sighet, the ‘Yeitav Lev’, and in some places inside were printed his glosses and comments, which are prefaced usually with “Said the Editor”.

A preface from the Yeitav Lev is printed at the beginning of the Bereshis volume. At the beginning of the fourth and fifth volumes are approbations from Maran the holy ‘Divrei Chaim’ of Tzanz and of the author’s grandson, the ‘Yeitav Lev’.

In Bereshit pt. 1 is a signature: “…Efraim Paneth, Carlsberg”, and a stamp: “…[Pa]neth… Yereim, Carlsberg” (Probably the stamp of Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Paneth, the Rov of the Orthodox community in Carlsberg). In Bereshit pt. 2 is a stamp: Eliezer Davidowitz, son-in-law of the Rav of Savrantz” (son-in-law and successor of Rabbi Menashe Simcha Friedman, Av Beis Din of Savrantz). In Shemos, a signature of “Yaakov Yosef Friedman”. On verso of the title page of Vayikra is a stamp of Rabbi “Yaakov Tzvi Katz, Av Beis Din of Hajdúszoboszló”.
Please see the Hebrew listing for biographical information on Rabbi Yaakov Tzvi Katz of Hajdúszoboszló and the ‘Yismach Moshe’.
