Owners’ signatures on the title page, including “The Y. Baruch Tzvi Hakohen Moskowitz, Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of here, Paks and its environs, 1947”. On the rear cover is a stamp of Rabbi “Mordechai Leib Winkler, Av Beis Din of (Mád)”.
The holy Gaon, the “Máder Rav”, Rabbi Mordechai Leib ben Naftali Winkler (1845-1932) – disciple of Maran the Ksav Sofer in the Pressburg Yeshiva. Served as Av Beis Din and rosh Yeshiva in the town of Mád in Hungary. Author of the series of Responsa Levushei Mordechai and other Seforim. One of the pillars of ruling in Hungary and one of the greatest responders of his generation. From among the thousands of his students came many immense Torah giants and Rabbonim, including Rabbi Mordechai Brisk, author of Responsa ‘Maharam Brisk’ and Rabbi David Yehuda Silberstein, Av Beis Din of Waitzen. Maran the Maharitz Dushinsky was his son-in-law during his first marriage.
The Gaon and Chossid Rabbi Baruch Tzvi ben R’ David Hakohen Moskowitz (1907-1990) – disciple of Rabbi Yehuda Grunwald, the Av Beis Din and Rosh Mesivta of Satmar. Served as Rosh Yeshiva and Av Beis Din of Paks and its environs and as Raavad of Budapest. In 1959 he emigrated to Vienna. Authored scores of Seforim, including “Tnuvot Baruch Vol. I”, “Tnuvot Baruch Vol. II, “Responsa Tnuvot Baruch”, “LeDavid Baruch”, “Mishmeret Tzvi Vayevarech David”, “Nishba La’avoteicha”, “Nechmad Lemar’eh”, “Torei Zahav”, and more. Massed away in the US. His life story is brought in the Ginat Veradim collection, vol. 12, p. 14.
