Volume of liturgies and supplications and composition “Dat Yehudit”. Manuscript. Morocco, 19th century.

Manuscript. Large collection of liturgies from Morrocan sages. Sefrou(?), Morocco. 19th century.

Approx. [125] pages. Some pages carry titles: Collected Liturgies, Supplications for Shabbat, Supplication for Weekdays, Liturgies for Pesach, Liturgies for Purim, and Dat Yehudit.

Some of the liturgies are different than the known, printed versions and some were apparently never published. Dat Yehudit is written in Moroccan Judeo-Arabic, translated by Rabbi Yaakov Ankawa. Among the authors of the liturgies are: Rabbi David ben Ḥasin, Rabbi Yaakov Even Tzor, Rabbi Shmuel Elbaz, Rabbi Moshe Ḥalawa, Rabbi Moshe Adehan, and more.

Some pages have illustrations on the margins, in the style common to the Jews of Sefrou; possibly done by members of the Elbaz family, who were known as writers and artists.
No cover. Missing the beginning and ending pages. Stains and moisture damage. Wear on corners. Some tears. Illustrated title page was cut out and all that remains is a portion of the frame. Fair-good condition.
