Rabbi Tzadok (Justus) Tal (1881-1954) – son of Rabbi Moshe Tuvia Tal, the Chief Rabbi of Gelderland and The Hague. Graduate of the Rabbinical Seminary in Amsterdam and graduate of Classic Literature studies in the University of Amsterdam. Starting in 1918 he served as the Chief Rabbi of the Utrecht and Drenthe provinces in Holland. During the holocaust he hid with his wife in Holland. Their son, Tuvia HY”D hid as well, but was turned in and murdered in Sobibor. After the war Rabbi Tal restored the Jewish community in Amsterdam, and from 1951 served as Chief Rabbi of Amsterdam and all of Holland.
