Handwritten postcard in German (apparently), with some words in Hebrew, on a pre-printed greeting card of Rabbi Baruch Moshe Nechemia Lobel, one of the Roshei Yeshiva of Pressburg and the sages of Yerushalayim in the pre-WWII years.
On both sides of the postcard are greetings, apparently in German, for the upcoming new year and the High-Holy days, and various issues of public importance. A few words are in Hebrew.
The Gaon Rabbi Baruch Moshe Nechemia Lobel (passed away in 1951), sexton of Kollel Shomrei HaChomos. Scion of the great disciples of the Chassam Sofer. From the leading Rabbis of Yerushalayim. Disciple of Maran Rabbi Yosef chaom Sonnenfeld, and later travelled to study by Maran the Gaon Rabbi Akiva Sofer, the “Da’as Sofer”. In Pressburg he was appointed haed of Yeshiva Or Torah for the younger students. When the “Da’as Sofer” immigrated to Eretz Yisrael, his disciple Rabbi Baruch came with him.
