Letter dealing with the “holy imperative” of keeping Kosher, signed by the four members of the Beis Din Tzedek of Yerushalayim, Rabbi Zelig Reuven Bengis, Rabbi Pinchas Epstein, Rabbi Yisrael Yitzchak Reisman, and Rabbi David Halevi Yungreis. 1949.
“A holy imperative lies on each Jew who is faithful to Hashem and His holy Torah to assist in maintaining Kashrut properly, as is befitting the holiness of the Nation of Israel, so that they do not defile themselves with forbidden foods, chalila, and for the proper ordinances of Yerushalayim” (two handwritten corrections).
Additions and deletions, handwritten by one of the Rabbonim, “are careful with this with extra strength” and “And Myself and Your people will be separate from the other nations, Thursday, 16th of Adar, 5709 (Mar. 17, 1949).
Unlined paper (typed on the reverse of a letterhead of “Kupath Harabanim of Jerusalem”). Fold marks. Slight stain. Very good condition.
