Letter from the association of the pious in Tzfas to Maran the Gaon Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld on behalf of Orthodox Jewry – 1921.

Letter from “Agudas Yere’im” in Tzfas, signed by great and important Chassidim and G-D-fearing residents of Tzfas, sent to Maran the Gaon Rav Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, expressing their admiration and support of the battle of Orthodox Jewry against the secular Zionists.

In the letter, they applaud his meeting with the British High Commissioner to give voice to the Jewish community in Tzfas, which is almost entirely made up of Orthodox Jews: “The assembly of the best of our members, who are the leaders and lobbyists of the Tzfas community, have decided to fight against those who seek to reach and destroy the vinyards of the King and to spread rot…”

Signed are Rabbi Yosef of Chotin, Rabbi Michel, Rabbi Elazar Branfeld, Rabbi Yoel Shor, Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Hakohen – all important leaders of Orthodox Jewry in Tzfas.
