Two interesting letters from the Tzaddik and Gaon, the Mekubal Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock, sent to his close friend the Mekubal and hidden Tzaddik Rabbi Yehuda Zev Lebowitz – with comments handwritten by Rabbi Yehuda Zev Lebowitz. Jerusalem, 1970-72.
Before us are two letters. One dated 24 Kislev, 5733 (Nov. 30,1972). The beginning of the letter contains wonderous things regarding the sanctity of the Chanukah candles and the lights that are revealed through them. Further on he brings an explanation from Rabbi Avraham Hamal’ach on the verse “Your Kingdom is a Kingdom of all worlds”. In the conclusion he writes regarding the 19th of Kislev, which is mainly celebrated by the Chabad Chassidim for the redemption of the Ba’al HaTanya, but “they completely forget Maran OBM, the holy Maggid (of Mezhrich), which through him the teachings of Chassidus became well-founded, just like Rav Chaim Vital spread the teachings of the Arizal. Although both are just as good”.
The second letter is dated the 1st of Elul 5730 (Sep. 2, 1970). In it he writes a wonderous Chiddush on the verse “And they sewed a fig leaf”, as well as a Chiddush regarding Bilam. He also shares his personal memoirs, telling of his wedding which was postponed post WWI due to his mother’s illness.
