Sefer “Ner Mitzvah VeTorah Ore” (Sha’ar HaEmunah and Sha’ar HaYichud), by the Mitteler Rebbe – Kopust, 1820 – first edition – Press of Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe.
“Sha’ar HaYichud” – the key to the teachings of Chabad.
Foundations of the teachings of Chabad Chassidus, by the holy Gaon Rabbi Dov Ber Shneuri – the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch.
The Sefer is divided in two. The first part is called “Sha’ar HaEmunah”, “Speaks of the essence of the mitzvah of belief, which is the foundation and root for all other Mitzvot”. The chapters deal with concepts of the Exodus from Egypt, eating Matzah, and the splitting of the Sea. The second part is called “Sha’ar HaYichud” and it contains a concise elucidation of the entire connectivity of the worlds and the Sephirot, and the donning of imagery (The content is so deep, that the author’s distinct disciple, the holy Gaon Rabbi Hillel of Poritch, composed an entire work to properly explain it and elucidate it named “Likutei Be’urim” (Warsaw, 1861).)
The Maharash of Lubavitch said that each of the Seforim of the Mitteler Rebbe was written for a specific type of Chassidim, however “Sha’ar HaYichud is the key to the teachings of Chassidus”, and the Mitteler Rebbe had written it for all the Chassidim (Kuntres Limud HaChasidus by the Rayatz, pg. 30).
On the last page of the Sefer is a page or “Chart of errata”, in the heading of which is written: “Since we did not have by us some of the pamphlets of C”K Admor, and we were forced to copy from other copies, and afterwards we toiled greatly to obtain the actual writings, therefore we present this list of errata on the pamphlets that were printed then.” That is, at the time of print, Rabbi Yisrael Yoffe, the publisher from Kopust, had only part of the manuscript, and the rest was from transcriptions. After he obtained the entire original manuscript, he proofread the printed material, and added the page of errata which he printed separately.
