At the start of Adar II of 1932, the Rebbe Rayatz visited several towns in Lithuania. This photograph is from his visit to the town of Fastov.
Rabbi Yechezkel Feigin HY”D, the Rebbe Rayatz’s secretary, wrote on the 17th of Shvat (Jan. 25) to Rabbi Yisrael Jacobson: “Around the month of Adar, he will go out to travel to one of the towns in the Vilna district, for in that region are some forty small towns, most of whom’s people are from our members, and they have not merited to meet the Rebbe till now, for they are far from Warsaw as much as from Riga, and they were unable to meet even when Admor Shlita was in Warsaw. Therefore it is reasonable that he will be in one of those towns for about a week, so that they can come from the surrounding towns, and the spirit of Chassidus can still be awakened in that region”.
The photograph shows C”K Admor the Rebbe Rayatz sitting on a sleigh, next to the town’s Rabbi – Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kuperstuch OBM, who served as a “Ketubah witness” at the wedding of the Rebbe.
