Rare letter from the Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch OBM, sent to the Chief Rabbi, Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Halevi Herzog, on his 60th birthday. The letter was written approx. a year and a month before his passing. Brooklyn, 9th of Tevet (Jan. 10), 1949.
“My honorable friend, the renowned Gaon, famed and exalted, and crown of the Geonim of Israel around the world, of exemplary Middos, Moreinu Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik Halevi Shlita, Chief Rabbi of the Holy Land, may she be swiftly rebuilt in our times…
…And in the days of his honor’s Torah and our days, we shall be saved with the full and true redemption by our righteous Moshiach who will gather us from the lands of our scattering and bring us to our Hoy Land…”
At the end, the Rebbe adds a few lines in his own holy handwriting:
“His friend, who seeks the peace of his honored Torah, who honors him as is worthy of him and blesses him in physical and spiritual”.
Signed with his signature. (It is noteworthy that this is a special signature style, where the Rebbe wrote his full name (Yosef Yitzchak Schneerson).
